The illustrations in this book blow me away.
First, my only gripe about the book is that it starts way too early -- with flying insects, dinosaurs, birds, and mammals. Those pages are yawners. I *think* they might have been included only to work in a few more gorgeous illustrations... in which case, all is forgiven|From Booklist|Gr. 2-4.
